A NEW image has been released of Ann Dwyer, the woman a Birmingham-based Irish grandmother believes is the sister she has never met.

Ms Dwyer, pictured right, is believed to have been born in London in 1957, which would make her 59 or 60.

It is believed that she was named Martha Cahill at birth but her name was changed by an aunt who ultimately raised her.

Nuala Lee, 84, only recently discovered she had a sister after asking her grandson to find out information about her father, Thomas Francis Fallon, who she last seen when she was just one month old.

Now she is hoping someone will recognise her sister from the image uncovered by her grandson Matthew O’Sullivan.

Mr O’Sullivan has been on the trail of his grandmother’s sister after he learnt of her existence while searching for information about his great-grandfather.

“My grandmother is 84 and she hasn’t been in great health,” Mr O’Sullivan said, “so I’m trying to get it done as quickly as possible and reunite her with her sister.”

Do you recognise this girl? Matt O'Sullivan believes this Ann Dwyer, Nuala Lee's sister.

What we know – the story so far…

Nuala Lee was born Agnes ‘Nuala’ Allen in Ballysadare, Co. Sligo.

She recently asked her grandson Matthew O’Sullivan to find out information about her father, Thomas Francis Fallon, from Collooney in Co. Sligo.

Mrs Lee last saw her father when she was just one month old before he went to London.

It is believed Mr Fallon – following his first wife’s death – married Kathleen Josephine Cahill, from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, in St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wandsworth in September 1961.

The pair worked in London hotels through the 1950s and ’60s, he as a porter and she as a waitress.

They are thought to have had a daughter in 1957, who was named Martha Cahill.

It is believed Martha was raised by Kathleen’s sister Brigid, who married a James J Dwyer and the couple renamed Martha as Ann Dwyer.

Kathleen and her Brigid were two of eight children of army pensioner Michael Cahill and Brigid Cahill Snr.

Ann may have been raised in Putney, south London, with Brigid and James’ sons Mark and James.

Thomas Fallon died in the late 1960s and Kathleen Cahill died in 1987 in the borough of Westminster.

Brigid Dwyer died in 1988.
