BIRMINGHAM-IRISH footballer Jack Grealish has landed himself in hot water with the Football Association following an incident which took place at the weekend.

The Aston Villa midfielder, a former Ireland youth international who has since switched allegiance to England, clashed with Wolves counterpart Conor Coady in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Villa Park.

Grealish, who is still eligible to represent Ireland at senior level, accepted the FA’s charge of violent behaviour for an apparent stamp on his opponent, which went unnoticed by the referee at the time.

The FA took retrospective action and the punishment will rule Grealish out of the Second City derby against Birmingham City on October 30.

A statement from the FA read: “Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he committed an act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.”
