FATHER MURPHYS

In last weekend's round four matches in the Camogie Championship, Fr Murphy's played Thomas McCurtains at Greenford, with a very strong wind which hampered the game. However, the girls in purple and gold set about their task, facing into the teeth of the wind and led 2-4 to 0-2 at half-time, through goals from Aisling Dunphy and Ann Corrigan. Fr Murphy's upped the tempo and almost owned the sliotar for the last 20 minutes of the game, popping over some delightful points and then another goal from Aisling Dunphy as the match ended in a 3-8 to 1-2 victory for the Fr. Murphy's. Former Laois player Aisling Dunphy ended up top scorer with a return of 2-2 and was almost certainly the player of the match. However, nothing can be taken away from Thomas McCurtains, who in their first year have won the junior championship and league and reached a senior championship semi-final and maybe not finished yet.

CROYDON

In the weekend’s other Camogie Championship game, Croydon had a comfortable victory against the amalgamation of the northern clubs Shire Gaels and it is indeed a credit to them that they fielded at all, given the vast distances they have to travel to get together. So as the table stands at the moment Tara are top on six points, with Thomas McCurtains to play, whilst Fr Murphy's and Croydon have four points each and face each other in the final round games this weekend. It is highly likely these four will be the semi-final final pairings the following weekend.

THOMAS McCURTAINS

The Camogie girls had a tough test against Fr. Murphy's at the weekend. They played well in periods but came out on the wrong end of the scoreboard. The footballers were given a walkover in their last league game last weekend. This leaves them currently in second place in the table. With a handful of outstanding fixtures for other teams to be played this leaves them in a great position to qualify for the semi-final. The U14 football Championship Final against Tara that was supposed to be played last weekend has been postponed to a later date. The East London Ladies are in action this weekend. The Footballers play their re-fixed league game against Fr. Murphy's in Goodmayes on Saturday while the Camogie team will play the last group game in the Championship as they take on Tara in Greenford on Sunday, both at 11 o'clock.

GLASGOW GAELS

It's a week of finals for the Gaels. First up the Ladies take on John Mitchels of Warwickshire in the All-Britain Junior Final on Saturday Oct. 1st at 12 PM in Manchester. The ladies have already travelled to Leeds and Birmingham on their road to the final and are looking to raise essential travel funds for the Final. You can support them on their GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/2pusp39v). Both the Junior and Senior men will play Dunedin Connollys in the Scotland county finals on Sunday October 2 in Coatbridge. Throw-ins at 12.30pm and 2pm respectively. All support for these three big games is much encouraged. Following the success of the first hurling match in Peterson Park on the 5th of September, the Gaels are looking to recruit anyone interested in hurling in Scotland for another match in mid-October. Please contact us if you’re interested: [email protected].

KILBURN GAELS

Our senior team came much closer than was expected to beating county champions Robert Emmets on Saturday last. They eventually were beaten by two points. The team have been putting up very spirited performances in the last few weeks and this has led them to a semi-final against St Gabriel's. This game will be played this Sunday in Greenford. Throw in is at 12:45pm. A strong show of support from all friends of the Gaels would be greatly appreciated. The club's next committee meeting will take place in Tony's Bar this Thursday (September 29) at 9pm.

TIR CHONAILL GAELS

Tir Chonaill Gaels Juniors lost out to Tara in the final of the Championship on Greenford at the weekend in a physical game that was packed with goals. Congratulations to Paul Coggins, his management team and all the players for a tremendous campaign which saw many fine performances over the summer. Congratulations to Lloyd and all the boys for topping the group and booking a semi-final place at the weekend after a commanding 3-16 to 0-08 win over Garryowen at the weekend. Keep an eye out on the website/twitter for further fixture details. Tir Chonaill Gaels Annual Golf Day takes place on Friday, October 7, at South Herts Golf Club. To sponsor a hole or for further information, please contact club chairman, Tom Mohan.
