Ant McPartlin released under investigation after 'drink-drive crash' leaves girl, 3, injured

ANT MCPARTLIN has been released under investigation by police after he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The troubled TV presenter, 42, was arrested at 4pm on Sunday after a road traffic collision in Richmond, south-west London.

A young girl, understood to be three-years-old, was brought to hospital after McPartlin allegedly lost control of his vehicle at a roundabout.

The car then collided head-on with a green Mini which contained the child and her parents, along with a maroon BMW.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed this morning that the ITV presenter had been released from custody at a south London police station, after officers questioned him over the collision.

According to reports, McPartlin's mum Christine and pet dog Hurley were also in the car at the time.

Amy Cassie, 23, who said she helped Ant's mum get the Labrador out of the car, told the Mirror: “Ant seemed furious after crashing the car and was shouting at his mum who was also in the car.

"She was trying to get him to calm down.

“The police took him to the back of the police car to remove him from the situation."

In a statement, the Met said: “A number of individuals were treated at the scene for minor injuries only.

“A child passenger from one of the cars has been taken to hospital for a check up as a precaution.

“A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving after failing a roadside breathalyser test.”

Last June, McPartlin checked himself into rehab after revealing that he had been battling a prescription drug addiction.

The Newcastle native, one half of TV's much-loved double-act, Ant and Dec, claimed the addiction was the result of a botched knee operation the year before.
