Surprise acts lined up to perform at Olympics Ireland House

Revellers at Ireland’s Olympic House will need confidence and a bit of imagination when they book their tickets to join the Irish party in London this summer.

Irish fans will have no idea what entertainment to expect when they arrive at the Big Chill venue in Kings Cross – announced as Ireland’s chosen party venue – because a new act will appear unannounced every day.

The ‘secret ticket’ scheme is part of the Ireland House organising team’s plan to create a exciting environment at the North London venue, which was recently revamped and offers food, drinks, music and dance in a prime location.

With plenty of room to host the hordes of Irish who will be out to support our athletes in the London Games 2012, the organisers plan to make the very most of 17 days where party people will flow through the doors.

“It’s going to be a great Ireland house with a fantastic atmosphere featuring top level Irish performers each day,” a London House organising team representative said.

“The twist is that each night’s performer won’t be unannounced until the day.

“So you won’t know if it will be a musician, comedian, actor or a band until you arrive, but we guarantee we will feature only the top performers in Ireland at the house.”

They added: “You are buying a secret ticket really – we think people will love the excitement of turning up to see who they’ve got after they purchase their tickets.”

Ireland House will become a home from home for Irish fans and supporters in London for the Games as well as the athletes and their families.

The organisers claim: “Ireland House will provide an out-of-competition base for athletes and their supporters, as well as representatives of the Olympic Council of Ireland and their guests.

“Visitors can enjoy the live Olympic action on large screens, chill with a pint and a bite to eat, enjoy an abundance of live entertainment, tap along to a traditional Irish music session or simply relax in the sunshine on the roof terrace.”

A spokesperson for the Big Chill venue said: “We are delighted and honoured to be hosting the Official Irish Olympic House during this historic event.

“Centrally located in Kings Cross, The Big Chill House will be the scene of sports, music, comedy and revelry – all with an Irish twist – throughout the games, welcoming all-comers to join the celebrations.”
